Chin augmentation helps to bring the chin into proportion with the other facial features. This is often done with the placement of a biocompatible, flexible silicone implant that is designed in a variety of shapes and sizes. Chin enhancement surgery can either be performed alone or commonly in conjunction with Face/Neck Lift or Nasal surgery.
A common technique for this procedure uses a silicone implant that is moved through an incision made under the chin. The implant is then placed directly over the bone along the lower jaw.
Chin implant surgery may use either local anesthesia or general anesthesia depending on the surgical case. There will be swelling, minimal discomfort and numbness that occurs in the chin and lower lip area, that will gradually improve. Most patients are very pleased with their results and feel that they have a stronger, more defined profile because of the surgery.
